How Ave and Liv fits into my mix of casual and dressed up

    3 Mins Read

Some days I want to wear jeans and a plain t-shirt. Other days I need something that looks a little more finished but still feels like me. I’ve been trying to build a wardrobe where I don’t have to think too hard about what to wear. A few pieces that work both ways. That’s how Ave and Liv started to fit into the mix.

It didn’t happen with one big order. I tried a few things, wore them, paid attention to how they felt during the day. Then I added more.

    The first thing I wore

The first thing I bought from Ave and Liv was a short-sleeve blouse. It had a wide fit, no print, and soft edges at the collar. I wore it with jeans the first time. Later that week, I paired it with black trousers and wore it to a dinner. That’s when I realized it worked for both sides of my week — errands and evenings.

It didn’t wrinkle much, and it held its shape after a wash. The hem didn’t roll. The neckline stayed flat. I noticed the difference compared to other tops that look good once, then lose their shape.

    Adding to the routine

The next thing I picked was a wrap-style dress in a neutral tone. It wasn’t formal. The fabric had a bit of weight, which made it feel steady. I wore it once with sandals, once with boots. No zippers, just a side tie. It moved well. It didn’t cling.

After that, I bought a light cardigan and a pair of relaxed cotton pants from Ave and Liv. These pieces didn’t match, but they worked together. I could wear them with a tank top for casual plans or dress them up with a button-down. The colors and shapes were easy to repeat without looking the same every time.

    What makes these clothes work

There’s nothing loud about the designs at Ave and Liv. They’re not made to be the main event. That’s what helps them fit into both casual and dressed-up looks. They don’t announce themselves, but they look complete.

Some details I’ve come to expect from their pieces:

    • Clean finishes with no harsh seams
    • Neutral tones that layer well
    • Fabrics that hold shape but still move
    • Fits that stay comfortable all day

I’ve worn their pants at home and also to work. I’ve used the cardigan on chilly mornings and at indoor events. The shift between casual and polished happens with shoes, earrings, and maybe a belt — not with the base outfit.

    No pressure to overstyle

One thing I like about shopping at Ave and Liv is that the clothes don’t push you toward a certain trend. You’re not expected to wear them with statement pieces. They look fine on their own. That takes away some of the pressure.

The photos on the site also reflect that. You don’t see excessive layering or heavy editing. The pieces are shown clearly, which helps when deciding how they might work in your own routine.

Adding pieces from Ave and Liv gave me options I didn’t have before. I can wear the same top on a slow Sunday or dress it up for a weekday dinner. The clothes don’t force a certain style. They leave room to decide how casual or finished I want to be that day. That kind of flexibility is what makes them a solid part of my closet now.
