What it’s like shopping for everyday clothes at Ave and Liv

    3 Mins Read

I was looking for simple, everyday clothes that didn’t take too much thought. I wasn’t after anything bold. I just needed a few things I could wear on repeat without wondering if they matched or needed dry cleaning. That’s how I ended up on Ave and Liv.

I didn’t go in with a list. I just wanted to see if their pieces felt like something I could use through the week. Nothing too fancy. Just soft, wearable things that held up and looked clean.

    What caught my attention first

The layout of the Ave and Liv shop was calm. No big banners, no clutter. I could actually see the clothes. Most of the pieces were in soft tones—beige, navy, off-white, muted greens. The styles leaned relaxed, with loose shirts, elastic waist pants, midi skirts, and some casual sets. It felt like a space that didn’t try too hard.

I started by checking out the basics. I saw a boxy tee with a small front pocket, a long-sleeve cotton top, and a pair of straight-leg drawstring trousers. These weren’t pieces built to stand out. They were meant to blend in, which was exactly what I wanted.

    What I bought

I chose three items: a wide-fit t-shirt, a lightweight button-down shirt, and a pair of soft cotton shorts. All from Ave and Liv. I figured I could mix and match them with stuff I already had. I didn’t buy them to build an outfit. I bought them because they looked like clothes I’d keep in reach.

The t-shirt had dropped shoulders and a loose hem. It hung right without clinging. The shirt was longer in the back, easy to wear tucked in or loose. The shorts had a thick waistband that sat flat without folding or pressing into the skin.

How they held up over time

I’ve worn all three pieces multiple times. They’ve been through the wash. The shape stayed the same. The seams didn’t twist. The fabric still feels soft. The buttonholes on the shirt didn’t stretch. That might sound like a small thing, but I’ve had other shirts fall apart faster.

A few things that stood out with Ave and Liv’s clothing:

    • The fits don’t rely on tight cuts or stretch
    • The fabric works across seasons, not just summer
    • The styles layer well with what I already own
    • They’re made for repeat use, not just occasion wear

I didn’t need to read a long care tag. All items went into the machine on cold, hung dry, and were ready to wear again.

    Why I’ll keep checking back

I liked that the clothes didn’t try to be the focus. They fit into the day without asking for attention. I’ve bought statement pieces in the past, and they sit at the back of the closet. Ave and Liv’s basics don’t do that. They end up in the laundry pile often, which says something.

The other reason I’ll return is the pace of their updates. New arrivals are added, but not all at once. It feels like a steady rotation, not a flash sale rush. That works for me. I don’t need twenty things. I just need one or two that I’ll actually wear.

Shopping at Ave and Liv gave me more than just new clothes. It gave me pieces I didn’t need to think about. The kind you grab without checking the mirror twice. They fit, they work, and they last. I don’t need more right now. But next time I do, I know where I’ll look.
